Parivartana Yoga
Parivartana Yoga is a dynamic, flowing form of yoga. It combines pranayama (breath) and
asana (held postures) in a continuous graceful flow. This sequence of breath and posture
helps to keep a constant mindful awareness, the practice becoming meditation as well as
exercise. The yoga is challenging and rewarding both physically and emotionally.
Parivartana Yoga benefits mind, body & spirit. Regular practice increases flexibility,
develops core strength, focuses the mind & improves concentration, rejuvenates mind &
body, calms & relaxes, rebalances & builds Prana (vital energy), enables us to connect
with our innate inner wisdom.

We have several types of Parivartana Yoga classes. At The Yoga Place we don't see yoga as
a progression from beginner-to-intermediate-to-advanced levels, practicing more extreme
postures as we progress. Instead, we see it as an on-going process of self development.
Through this we gradually refine the way we work with mind, body and breath, as we work
towards a deeper understanding of our yoga practice.
* indicates these classes are suitable for students already attending All Level classes, who
are looking to refine their yoga practice and are not suitable for beginners.
Introductory class: The best way to start Dynamic Yoga. The 4 principles are introduced
as the foundation of the yoga, and the fundamental points of the basic sequences are
clearly explained. This firm foundation then allows students to progress to a more in-depth
understanding of the yoga. This class can also be of great benefit to students of all levels
as a revision class.
All level: A general class suitable for all levels of experience. These are the most popular
classes, allowing students to steadily increase their knowledge and ability with the
sequences and 4 principles. These classes are more flowing than the introductory course,
moving continuously from pose to pose in a graceful flow.
Preksha*: Preksha means to “see clearly” or to “understand more deeply.” Preksha
classes are flowing like All Level classes, but look more deeply into the techniques,
sequences, principles & philosophy of Parivartana Yoga. The class is suitable for those
who have attended All level classes for a while, and are looking to explore the yoga in
more depth. It is recommended, but not essential, that students in the Preksha class
attend 2 classes a week.
Paripurna*: Paripurna is a flowing class, where students flow from pose to pose in time
with their own breath, with no talk though from the teacher. Hands-on help is given to help
the student understand the poses & principles more deeply. Paripurna is intended for
students attending at least twice a week.
